As we embrace spring and summer, so much is happening at the Art Institute and Gallery.

In mid-2009, the Arts & Entertainment District along with Urban Salisbury and the downtown
businesses began “3rd Friday” activities. 3rd Fridays in Salisbury have welcomed many new faces not only to the downtown but to the AI&G. For 2010, Gallery exhibit opening receptions at the AI&G for the most part fall on 3rd Fridays from 5-7 pm.

Kate Cashman, a long-time artist-instructor with the AI&G, joined the staff as the Education Director. Through Kate’s efforts, new classes for children and adults along with an expanded children’s summer camp schedule have been created. The pottery studio will be expanded with 3 additional instructors who will bring many new learning opportunities in clay for children and adults.

The Gallery and Foyer Gallery schedule for 2010 will bring many new opportunities for artists to exhibit their works and share their talents with the community and to Maryland visitors. The AI&G remains one of the best places to see and buy art on the Eastern Shore.

The Martha Gue’ AI&G Gallery Gift Shop has changed courses to include predominantly local, regional and national original artisan works from over 45 artists. New to the gift shop is hand-made original jewelry, gold/silver/copper bracelets, original artworks in all mediums, hand-made pottery, handbags, whimsical pottery bells, hand-beaded jewelry, scarves, original all-occasion cards, an incredible baby corner with knitted and crocheted baby gifts, books by local authors, and much more.

Take a moment after you visit our website, to visit the AI&G and see for yourself one of the best-kept secrets on Maryland’s beautiful eastern shore.
